How to Use

Using the Cooking Cosy generally only adds around 5-10 minutes to the normal simmering time (after bringing food to the boil) to cook many foods.  However, please note it is not recommended for cooking meat.

When the saucepan is removed from the cooker it should be placed on a non-flammable, heat insulating mat, made from e.g. cork, wood, silicone, which retains the heat and protects surfaces from scorching or melting.

COOKING TIMES AND GUIDELINES

These are general guidelines for the amount of time that food should be left in the saucepan once covered in the Cooking Cosy after it has been brought to the boil, the saucepan removed from the cooker and placed on an insulating mat. To ensure effectiveness of the Cooking Cosy by retaining maximum heat in the saucepan, do not check contents by removing the lid once covered in the cosy until food has been left for the recommended times. Once stirred well before covering, pasta or rice, for example, do not stick together when used with the cosy.

If food is not cooked to your satisfaction after these times, stir, replace the lid and cover again with the cosy for 5-10 minutes.  Food can be overcooked using the cosy so it is advisable to use a timer once you have ascertained the cooking time to your taste.  Always ensure food is hot and cooked through before eating.  An added bonus of the Cooking Cosy is that once cooked/drained, you can continue to keep food hot (including stews, sauces and gravies) without having to use the cooker by replacing the lid, placing on mat and covering in the cosy.
